is a distinguished professor, chair of Climate Dynamics at George Mason
University, president of the Institute of Global Environment and Society(IGES),
member of JSC, and chairman of WCRP Modeling Panel. He proposed Reanalysis
and found scientific basis for short-term climate prediction. Professor
Shukla is the Author or co-author of over 150 scientific papers, and his
research interests include reanalysis, monsoon dynamics, predictability
of weather and climate, deforestation, desertification, atmosphere-land
interactions, unified models for weather and climate prediction, climate
and society. |

group is to understand in full depth, both dynamical
and physical processes which determine the circulation of the oceans and
the atmosphere using both simple and sophisticated models. In particular,
he is currently interested in modeling and predicting ocean-atmosphere
coupled phenomena such as ENSO, IOD and PDO using a coupled GCM. Professor
