About us
The APEC Climate Center (APCC) was established in 2005 with the unanimous endorsement and warm welcome of APEC senior officials and leaders at the first APEC Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) in Seoul, Korea. At the 17th APEC Ministerial held in November 2005, the APEC Ministers welcomed the establishment of APCC in their Joint Statement.
In 18th November 2005, on the occasion of the 13th APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in Busan, Korea, the APCC was formally launched with the mission of strengthening scientific and technological cooperation across the APEC region in order to help economies and societies deal effectively with the consequences of current and future climate-related hazards through the provision of climate information, research and technical support.
Since its establishment, APCC has played an important role in the region in providing climate information products and services based on a multi-model ensemble prediction system.
Vision and Goals
The APCC will to an institutionalized communication channel for effective exchange of regional climate information among APEC member economies. APCC aims at realizing the APEC vision of regional prosperity through the enhancement of economic opportunities, the reduction of economic loss and the protection of life and property through;
