Current Climate Conditions

 

In February through early-April, weak El-Nino conditions persisted in the equatorial Pacific. Positive temperature anomalies prevailed over the globe, with the highest positive temperature anomalies being observed over the Arctic, northern Eurasia and western North America. Weak negative temperature anomalies were observed in the western Mediterranean, Central Asia and India, while the area of the strong negative temperature anomalies was confined to eastern and central North America and Greenland. Negative precipitation anomalies were observed over the Maritime continent, eastern equatorial Pacific and North Pacific, in the Arctic. Wetter conditions were over the central tropical Pacific with notable eastward shift compared to previous month, southern North America and the Pacific coast of South America, India, south-western Australia and western Africa.
